May 2, 2024 - Release Notes - SnapShots, Report Builder, and 2024 FP Canada Guideline Assumptions

Summary:

The value of your financial projections can be significantly increased through engaging and digestible client reports. Summarizing key aspects of the plan (e.g., assumptions, next steps) provides clients with more confidence and clarity regarding what they need to do next and what they can expect in the future. The new SnapShot feature provides customizable summaries to present an entire projection in 1 to 2 pages. SnapShots can be used as a standalone deliverable or as an executive summary of the larger report.

New Feature

The following screenshot provides an example of how the new SnapShots feature can be used to summarize a large amount of information in a client-friendly manner. The combination of visuals, bulleted text, and headings allows clients to quickly understand the main points and gain a better understanding of the projection. These pages can be used as a standalone deliverable or at the beginning or end of a longer client report.

Enhancements

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback on the recent Report Builder changes. We've made some further enhancements to help make this section more intuitive and optional.

We've adjusted labels and helper text, added icons and filters, and more to allow you to more easily navigate adding, removing, and reordering pages for your Client Reports.

You can find all the details on using the Report Builder available here.

If you don't require the option to reorder pages in the report, you can now Disable the Included Pages section. This will list all available report pages on the Report Editor page in their default order, with the option to add or remove individual pages from there.

Other Updates

2024 FP Canada Guideline Assumptions

The latest (2024) Projection Assumption Guidelines from FP Canada and the Institut québécois de planification financière can now be imported into your projections.

You can find more information about adjusting your projection settings and the updated values here.

Adjustment to the Equity return calculation in Snap

The FP Canada Guidelines provide return assumptions for several geographic regions. Snap consolidates these to a single Equity return value to provide a default assumption. Previously, this was calculated as an equal weighting of Canadian equities, foreign developed market equities, and emerging market equities.

As of this year, we've gathered the required information to adjust the calculation to an equal weighting of Canadian equities, U.S. equities, and foreign market equities.

This has shifted weighting away from emerging markets towards U.S. equities to more closely align with most portfolios and to create a more conservative default return assumption.

This change applies to the General page, Historical Scenarios, and Randomized Scenarios.
